Dynamic Charts As A Method
Of Graphic Forecast
(Based On The Astrological Program VegaSviri)
by PAUL SVIRIDOV
the creator of all the VegaSviri
Programs.
Even novices to astrology
know that a horoscope is a valuable source of information
for highlighting and determining specific psychological profiles,
skills, preferences and behavior types (in relation to life
situations and relationships). An experienced astrologer rarely
relies on psychological profiling only, and will never abandon
attempts to at least roughly predict future events.
There are a vast number of
prediction methods and techniques available, each fulfilling
a specific area. For instance, transit aspects with natal
chart items can point to the active current events in the
social life of a person. While aspects of symbolic directions
reflect the private side. Certainly, in real life every aspect
is intertwined and cannot be separated. If a prolonged negative
direction aspect creates depressive moods for months at a
time, it does not mean that the subject in question is naturally
gloomy or will remain that way. It is always possible that
favorable transits will introduce many enjoyable days during
this period of time. Concluding that a person is always under
the constant influence of multiple astrological factors that
give their life unique and varying content.
Armed with a computer, a modern
astrologer can print out all the astrological factors liable
to affect an important event in their customer's life. Using
a reference list, an astrologer can use their own judgement
to choose which insignificant or minor factors they will leave
out. A trained astrologer's eye can immediately determine
which 2 or 3 astrological phenomena produced the current event.
However, this only applies to a retrospective forecast. It
is not a simple task to detect main factors for a future forecast
from the huge list of planet aspects, house cusps, nodes in
transits, directions and profections. It is possible to take
a systematic approach to astrology but only the very best
professionals are able to analyze the copious amount of data
they have at their disposal and generate a valid and accurate
forecast. More often than not, intuition plays a huge role
in the accuracy of an experienced astrologer's decision-making
process. Yet, this approach can be seen as nothing more than
plain guesswork.
We have attempted to create
a universal methodology that considers and assesses main astrological
factors in a forecast for any period of time. A forecast should
not be presented as a series of mind-boggling tables of aspects
and overlapping astrological charts but as an easy-to-recognize
and utilize display of graphs, histograms and diagrams. The
result of our research is the VegaSviri family of software
products with graphic forecasting as their prominent feature.
Two graphs are created when
producing a chart for any period of time: the color red highlights
the negatives, and the color green, the positives. The colors
carry the same symbolic meaning as individual traffic lights.
Red emphasizes tension, difficulties, crisis-related aspects
and circumstances, dilemmas and moments when important decisions
have to be made. Green symbolizes stability, success, and
supportive aspects.

WHAT ARE THESE TWO CHARTS
AND HOW ARE THEY BUILT?
The charts constitute a joint
manifestation of all astrological factors the user has considered
for calculation. Every factor receives its own weight. Weight
masks are created and the correlation among different astrological
factors is ranged. If you want your chart to be simple and
illustrative you have to familiarize yourself with the setup
of the program's preferences. This is why we designed the
program with preset defaults. In other words, we've made your
job a lot easier!
For example, the weight of
every aspect type can be specified in the middle column of
Aspect Weights. Preset default weights were obtained through
years of research.

Weights of Planets for
dynamic feature
Conjunctions as the strongest
aspect, has the default value of 4 points; square 2.5 points;
opposition and trine have 2 points each. Determining the value
for sextile requires a bit more knowledge. By default it has
the value of 2 points. Yet practical experience dictates that
its points strongly depend on how a person feels and in what
situation the person is at the moment of the forecast. If
the person has many options to choose from, then he or she
can be quite free at determining the course of their own actions,
especially if their potential is virtually unlimited (youth,
money, status, high position). If this is applicable in your
case, then the sextile value can be weighted at 2-2.5 points.
But if the person's number of personal choices, power and
money are limited, if they are facing restrictive circumstances,
tough work conditions, and influences that are bringing their
ability to expand to a halt, etc., then their sextile value
drops to 1 point. But please note that these are only initial
settings. While working on a customer's chart, an astrologer
can employ their own sense to determine the strength of various
astrological factors and customize the system according to
their needs.
For instance, we have treated
all squares and oppositions as negative factors, while trines
and sextiles are regarded as positive factors. We approached
minor aspects in much the same way. By default, the group
of quintile (creative) aspects is positive and karmic aspects
are negative. Conjunctions are a different matter entirely.
Every user has to find the quality of a conjunction with a
planet in the table. This setup will significantly increase
the accuracy of a forecast.
Every planet, house cusp,
aspect and prediction method has its own weight. The weights
are shown in a special table. We managed to make the program
controls universal, so that for every natal chart and event
type - such as moving to a new place, birth of a child, change
of job, marriage, disease etc., a separate weight table can
be created. This can be saved so that all settings are kept.

Conjunction set-up window
Please note that a dynamic
curve can result from a variety of charts created with different
prediction methods. To obtain a graphic forecast for a person
over a three-year interval, you should choose the Transits
of modern planets like Jupiter and Saturn (fast-moving planets
will only clutter the chart and make it illegible). Also use
the Symbolic Directions and Progressing of the Moon, Mercury
and Venus as predictive methods. You don't need to pay any
special attention to the progressing Sun, as it basically
mirrors the Sun in direction. The final graphic forecast will
be based on the aspects of three predictive methods. To achieve
a higher degree of accuracy give the Transits more weight
than progressions and directions - as we are more interested
in external events after all!
Symbolic directions reflect
the processes deep within us that attract external events.
Essentially, symbolic directions are the individual programs
of every human being. Directional aspects have a long life
span (up to three years for the Sun and the Moon, and up to
two years for all other planets) and influence most of the
important events in our life. Progressions stand between transits
and symbolic directions. That's why transits are quite important
when predicting a period of time that encompasses one to three
years. Over longer periods, symbolic directions and progressions
gain more weight.
Every aspect that occurs within
three years during transits, directions and progressions is
described as a non-linear function. Its value is low when
planets enter the orb, grows exponentially until the aspect's
culmination, reaches its maximum on precise aspect and decreases
exponentially afterwards. As a result, two charts are created
detailing how the life of a person will be within the next
three years. It is no secret that an event should be confirmed
using multiple predictive methods. That's why the joining
of charts usually produces a spike graph.
HOW TO WORK WITH A CHART?
We see two lines on the chart.
One is red; the other is green.
They may coincide, cross each
other or diverge. But what does this mean? If the green line
is above the red one it corresponds to a period of success
and overall stability. When reversed (red above green), it
denotes a time of difficulties, problems and crises. Peaks
symbolize moments of decision-making. If the lines nearly
touch, it represents difficult but productive periods when
a person both has obstacles to overcome and the means to achieve
it.
The accuracy criterion is
the position of the red and green line in regards to each
other. They should swing along the same horizontal axis. In
certain places a line can abruptly rise or fall, meaning that
something is happening. Generally a great distance between
two lines won't remain constant. The weights should be set
in accordance with this rule. If the above-mentioned values
of aspect strength and planet points produce two widely diverging
curves you ought to enter some corrections and reassess the
importance of the factors that currently are in effect within
the horoscope.
For instance, two squares
with Pluto in transit are capable of making your red line
shoot up. This certainly signifies a period of difficulty
but it is unlikely that it will only consist of crises, worries,
mishaps and problems. Despite squares creating a generally
depressing background, there will still be normal, relaxing
days. A person cannot stay depressed all the time and needs
to relax. That's why our conscious mind forces problems into
the subconscious. Therefore, it is recommended to somewhat
reduce the weight of Pluto squares and bring the positive
and negative curves closer together.
A most alarming period is
when the red curve shoots straight up and the green curve
drops down. The absent backing of the positive curve highlights
the seriousness of the crisis. The situation is most likely
to resolve itself the best way it can, as the curve moves
up. However, the strength of the peak measured in points has
to be considered. The left vertical scale shows how "dangerous"
the outburst is. Referring to the points on the left vertical
scale will enable you to compare absolute values. This is
when the tip of the spike is in the uppermost portion of the
chart for any given period of time.
VegaSviri has set the following
approximate values for the red curve:
- Peaks up to 100 points denote daily routine
situations;
- Peaks between 100 and 150 points indicate
notable events requiring attention, effort or expenses;
- Peaks over 150 points signal a serious
crisis or dangerous situation (default weights have been
taken into consideration).
The same values applied to
the positive green line usually represent a harmonious and
favorable period of diverse intensity.
By nature, people react to
positive and negative peaks differently. A person of strong
will power and stable nature usually relaxes and rests on
positive peaks without making any moves. Their inner feeling
usually follows the philosophy of 'everything is as it should
be' or 'everything is OK'. To achieve noticeable results,
such a person needs problems, confrontation and struggle.
That is when they come to life, display their determination,
plunge into the midst of the battle and usually end up winning
by twisting the situation to their advantage. A classic example
of this kind is Boris Yeltsin, a devotee of unexpected moves
and elaborate schemes.
A different kind of person
becomes active at the time of positive aspects. They manage
to accomplish a lot of things and have the feeling that their
hour has come and a "tail wind fills their sail".
At the time of crises they are crushed by circumstances, their
activity dies down and they lie in wait for better times to
come.
These are obviously two opposing
human reactions to life crises. There are plenty of different
reactions in between when certain characteristics dominate.
In every particular case you should determine the psychological
profile of the personality you are creating the forecast for
and their reaction to an aspect.
While a chart displays hard
and favorable times, most people want to know which coming
events will be most affected. To find this out, click on the
respective part of the chart with the left mouse button and
a table of time-relevant aspects will pop up on the right.
To see whether an aspect is emerging, dissolving or culminating,
make a double click with the left mouse button on the aspect
line in the table. The Aspect Dynamics window will appear
and a blue slanting line will indicate the emerging aspect
and a slanting red line, the dissolving aspect. The vertical
red line stands for the exact time of the aspect. The vertical
green line indicates the current time of inquiry. As the cursor
moves across the window the time is shown on a yellow tab.
You can easily find out if there are indications that an aspect
will repeat due to the retrograde nature of a planet and has
the potential to emerge more than once in close intervals.

An aspect between two points
of a chart
Move the cursor outside
the Aspect Dynamics chart, press and hold down the left mouse
button and move the cursor across the chart to its opposite
side, slightly crossing the chart border (the mouse will leave
behind a dashed red line). You will see the measured interval
changing. After a little practice, you will be able to change
the interval with a single mouse movement without making any
mistakes. The interval can be reduced the same way. Only the
movement has to be constrained to the chart boundaries. The
measured interval changes within the chart the same way.
If the situation requires
a profound analysis you can double-click with the left mouse
button on the crest and call up natal and transit Zodiac circles.
Here, amidst familiar planet and sign symbols, every astrologer
can find what they are looking for.
This was a short description
of how to create and work with a graphic forecast. The transition
from displaying forecasts as confusing astrological charts
to easy-to-understand graphs, is very valuable! Group forecasts,
modeling of situations and neuronet curves for all possible
purposes are based on this simple graphic display. Such graphs
should make their way to a director's desk, housewife's kitchen,
student's computer or diary of a young woman in love. We have
already released the program eSybilla for non-astrologers,
which is capable of graphically displaying predictions based
on professional astrological methods. We hope that dynamic
charts will bring astrology closer to people and give them
the feeling of how powerful, effective and useful it can be.
